Add tutorial for 1D Beam Element Analysis using FEAScript #3
Description
Motivation
As part of the work on the linear elasticity solver, I have implemented a simple 1D beam example using a cantilever beam.
The corresponding implementation is available in the following pull request:
- FEAScript-core PR #86: Add 1D Euler-Bernoulli beam solver (cubic Hermite elements) FEAScript-core#86
I think this would also be a good opportunity to create a tutorial on the FEAScript website explaining how to solve a simple beam problem with FEAScript.
Proposed Tutorial
The tutorial would include:
- A brief introduction to the Euler-Bernoulli beam equation.
- Definition of the cantilever beam problem.
- Solving the problem with FEAScript.
- Visualization of the displacement results.
- Comparison with the analytical solution.
Notes
This tutorial depends on the beam implementation being merged into FEAScript-core first. Once the implementation is accepted, I can prepare the documentation and submit a pull request for the website.
I expect this tutorial to serve as the first structural mechanics example in the documentation and as a foundation for future tutorials covering topics such as truss, frame, and linear elasticity analysis.

I am working on the beam tutorial @ferrari212. Thanks a lot for your input. I will post updates soon.

Hi @ferrari212. Thanks again for your work!
I have added the following basic tutorial:
https://feascript.com/tutorials/cantilever-beam-1d.html
which also has an analytical solution in order to verify the FEAScript results.
Feel free to propose any updates/modifications.
Also, if you want, you could also prepare one more tutorial corresponding to your example https://github.com/FEAScript/FEAScript-core/blob/main/examples/eulerBernoulliBeamScript/clampedSpringSupportedBeam1D/clampedSpringSupportedBeam1D.js

What is also required is to update
plotSolutionso it can ploteulerBernoulliBeamScriptresults directly. NowplotSolutionassumes one scalar value per node so it can't be directly used for the beam model (or in any model with multiple DoF per node). In the tutorial we have to manually extract the solution (as also in the creeping flow case: https://feascript.com/tutorials/lid-driven-cavity-2d-creeping-flow.html), so I suppose it's a bit complex for the users. AdofsPerNodeoption should be added toplotSolution, to simplify these kind of tutorials. We should add it to the roadmap.
